Liverpool Mayor Wendy Waller and Australia Day Ambassador Ricardo Goncalves presented nine Australia Day Awards to local citizens at a special ceremony at Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre on 26 January 2018.
The awards are presented annually to local people and groups who have made outstanding contributions to the community.
“It was a great privilege to present the Australia Day Awards with SBS News presenter Ricardo Goncalves,” said Mayor Wendy Waller.
Amongst the worthy recipients was our very own Ross Maiorana who was presented the
Sports Award –
Ross has been the President of Kemps Creek United Soccer Club since 2011. He is also a member of the Southern Districts Soccer Football Association and is a recently accredited referee. His commitment and hard work has enabled Kemps Creek United Soccer Club to compete for qualification as Champion of Champions as well as in other major events. Ross has coordinated many improvements to the Club’s facilities, as well as obtaining grant funding and sponsorships.
The whole club and community congratulate Ross on this great achievement.
