The 2019 season has seen many new records and achievements set for the
Kemps Creek United Soccer Club.

Record registration numbers, entry into some of Australia’s most notable and recognised football competitions and an avalanche of matches has seen the club continue to grow from strength to strength.

With some 500 players and officials, comprising 34 teams in 2019, the
club’s registration numbers have again hit a new high and while the
footballing structure has plenty to account for in drawing this
popularity, the club’s facilities have too been constantly evolving,
much on the back of some vital funding injections from both the Federal
and State Governments.

A $50,000 grant from Sport Australia’s Community Sport Infrastructure
funding program has resulted in upgraded floodlighting on the main field
at Bill Anderson Reserve.

What has transpired since their recent installation has seen the Club compete in and host its first ever FFA Cup matches.

The FFA Cup is Australia’s largest football tournament involving nearly 750 teams from grassroots level all the way through to the A-League.

The two FFA Cup fixtures drew crowds of 4-500 people, unheralded for the
club on the outskirts of Liverpool, particularly for a mid-week fixture.
Then came the debut in the Cottam Cup, Australia’s oldest football
tournament, and another successful run of outings.

But even at the grassroots level, the club has been inundated with
matches from the local competition to State Cup fixtures.

Nearly every weeknight the club plays host to night matches. President Ross Maiorana explains how the club is almost a victim of its own success.

“Because of our high level facilities, we attract many matches to the
ground. Our own Association games of course, but then there’s State Cup,
Champion of Champions and this year FFA Cup and Cottam Cup,” he said.

“It’s great having all these games, we love it, but it does impact on
our teams training schedule. We only have two and a half fields, so they
need to squeeze in to train,” Maiorana said.

The Club has also recently received State Government grants to complete
its awning structure, and will soon be installing a new scoreboard.

He also acknowledged the importance of receiving funding to assist with
the improved capital infrastructure. “We are extremely grateful to all
levels of Government for the funding assistance over the years. I
believe we have the best facilities in the district as a result, which
is my aim,” Maiorana added.

Round 2 of the State Cup was conducted on Sunday 19 May with 6 Kemps
Creek sides progressing to the round of 16 in a fortnights time.

Bill Anderson Reserve hosted 4 of the Clubs teams, while the remaining 5 were
spread across Sydney and Wollongong.

At Bill Anderson Reserve,

Under 13 Black recorded a 3-1 victory against
the highly respected Dunbar Rovers,

The Under 15 Black scored a 3-0
result over Cronulla Seagulls,

the Under 16s were pipped 2-1
against fellow Tigers from Camden,

and Marrickville knocked the Under 13
Orange team out of the competition.

On the road,

All Age Premier League side won a nail-bitter against the powerful Northbridge at Berowra 1-nil,

the Under 14s secured a third
round berth with a resounding 4-1 score-line over Conniston,

the Under 18s proved too strong for the Miranda Magpies 3-0,

the Under 17s hammered St Marys Eaglevale 16-0 with hat-tricks to Danial Alshammi,
Dean La Delfa and Nickolas Rizos.

Although the Under 14 Girls road trip
to Cromer Park in Manly didn’t prove successful on the scoreboard, they etched their name into the history books by being the Clubs’ first Under
14s female State Cup representatives.

Well done to all involved, and we wish continued success for the remaining 6 teams in Round 3 on 02 June.

Fixtures and times to be advised once they are announced by Football NSW.
